How We Fit into the Global Marketplace

On the local level, our goal has been to create a yarn shop with a HEART and CONSCIENCE. We strive to create a peaceful space of hospitality and support, dedicated to the art of knitting—a friendly place to drop in anytime for knitting help, to browse our merchandise, or just to visit! As our customers, we know how valuable you are to us and we want to return the favor. Think of us as your community knitting center!

On a global basis, we strive to support businesses that help local economies around the world. We carry Malabrigo, a handcrafted yarn providing income for communities of craftswomen in Uruguay. We also stock the affordable felting and knitting wool from Brown Sheep—a family run business in Nebraska. We are pleased to offer you strong, attractive baskets from Maendeleo, a business that supports women trying to make a living in Africa. We have lovely items from Lantern Moon, a company that buys their products from a group of women in Viet Nam, so they can support themselves. Also in the shop are wonderful and unusual buttons from One World Buttons and On The Surface. These buttons are all made in third world co-ops and are made from natural materials—superb in their colors and designs! A cotton blend we carry is made from recycled cotton from the garment industry and our other cotton is organic with no dyes!
